A juvenile, Either White Tern (Uplifted bill?), or Gull-Billed Tern (slightly down-curved bill?).
Sea/Shorebirds aren't my specialty though, still learning...
Thanks A, the Gull-billed tern looks the more likely of the two. It might be so.
I suggest Gull-billed Tern with that distinctive eye patch
discount the White Tern as it is a small delicate bird with an obvious blue-purple bill base
