Cleaning out old photographs and found this one. Have no idea where I took it, but can anyone identify the bird?
wader sp.
sp. ????
Red Necked Stint.
sp. abbreviation for "species" shore.rob
West Coast Tasmania
Thanks, not sure why he wrote that? I was trying to find out which it was....so red-knecked stint.
"sp." is often written when the writer isn't sure of precisely what species it is, shore.rob.
I think it's a Sanderling?
WOULD LOVE SOME MORE OPINIONS ON THIS BIRD
suggest Red-necked Stint; I saved the pic and then enlarged but it became pixalated very quickly
Peter
I too would say Red-necked Stint
Not the best photo to work with, but the dark shoulder says Sanderling to me.
Why do others think this is a Red-necked Stint, & not a Sanderling?
I'm not great on wader's but I thought Sanderling because of the dark shoulder patch too!
Well, i'm definitely not an expert The Sanderlings I saw were a lot more grey and white, lighter in colouring. But I'm just going on colours here
