This is the same as Reflex's but I'm just so excited to finally see one in the flesh I just had to post it.
After that we went to the Botanicle Gardens. While I didn't get any new birds, I did manage some nice photos.

Congratulations finding the powerful owl - great photos getting the light in the eyes.
Lovely shots from the gardens too - the lorikeet is a beauty. Good place to find co-operative subjects for photography.
Nice set of photos, well done, i have yet to photograph a powerful owl. I havn't even seen one for several years, hope to find one soon when i go looking for owls.

The owl looks like an adult male.
Nice pics, of all birds. Esp. the Noisy Miner on that red flower. Very pretty.
Congrats on the Powl. Agree on the noisy miner, great shot.

Thanks guys, I was really thrilled to finally get to see one up close. (close enough for a decent photo anyway)
I showed some of my friends and they didn't even realise the Powerful Owl was a real bird.
They thought it was a myth like the Yowie or Yetti.
Apparently the Powerful Owl stopped a bypass cutting through Samford.
The plans were submitted but there was an uproar because Samford is "Home of the Powerful Owl" , therefore the plans were knocked on the head.
How can you tell that Canonguy?
