Not Just Birds

Was pleasantly surprised today, while looking for feathers, found some fur. Was reasonably close to this little one.

Tasmanian Pademelon.

Gorgeous shot, Dale. Thanks for that. I encountered a rather large Red-bellied Black Snake a couple of days ago but let it pass without taking pictures... we were occupying the same set of steps.

Thanks Sue. A timely reminder that snakes often occupy the same territory as birds, and of course us as photographers.

To all, be careful where you tread, and happy, safe birding!

Amazing photo, Dale! How did you manage to take a photo of him? They are quite wild. In my country it is impossible to meet this animal. But I would love to especially if I visit Australia. It is their home!

Thanks Rosalie, they are wild, and generally quite shy, usually nocturnal. They become more friendly/tame if they live close to humans. This one was on the edge of a reserve, but also quite near houses. Long lens and slow methodical movement to get as close as you can, taking photos with each step closer.
