Was pleasantly surprised today, while looking for feathers, found some fur. Was reasonably close to this little one.

Gorgeous shot, Dale. Thanks for that. I encountered a rather large Red-bellied Black Snake a couple of days ago but let it pass without taking pictures... we were occupying the same set of steps.
Thanks Sue. A timely reminder that snakes often occupy the same territory as birds, and of course us as photographers.

Amazing photo, Dale! How did you manage to take a photo of him? They are quite wild. In my country it is impossible to meet this animal. But I would love to especially if I visit Australia. It is their home!
Thanks Rosalie, they are wild, and generally quite shy, usually nocturnal. They become more friendly/tame if they live close to humans. This one was on the edge of a reserve, but also quite near houses. Long lens and slow methodical movement to get as close as you can, taking photos with each step closer.
