I seem to recall as a Bundaberg, Qld youngster that we called them Peewee or Mudlark

In SA they're called Murray Magpies & Peewee is used in the eastern states but I believe the common name is Magpie-lark.

Where I live, we do call them Mud-larks, now I know why blush. They are so common, I have no idea why I've never seen the nests?

Great photos.

I had never heard the term PeeWee referring to what I call Mudlarks until I joined this forum. I also did not know the mud referred to the nest. Great photos, Alan!

Another reason for one of their alternative names (Mudlarks) they are the most common wader, they walk on the edges of wetlands.
