Do they belong to the same family?
Why is the one in No1 called an Inland Dotterel? The one in No2 is called a Black-fronted Plover?
Please
Or, are they different species?

I think no.2 is also called a dotterel M-L: Black-fronted Dotterel
I think this is another case of dove vs pigeon. Last I knew dotterels and lapwings were just another plover family member with a different last name?
that's right the Family Charadriidae includes the Lapwings, Plovers and Dotterels M-L where did you sight the Inland Dotterel?
Peter
Well spotted Peter, we don't have any around here. I only posted it because it belongs to the same family. I saw it at the Healesville Sanctuary, where they have a breeding program. (I was waiting for somebody with knowledge to ask)
The black-fronted Dotterel was at some local wetlands.
M-L
I will be back in 5 minutes, I just have to unpack the car, no need to drive to Melbourne tomorrow
