I was walking down at Daisy Hill Forest this afternoon, when I passed something peculiar-looking on a tree, but didn't think anything of it. When I came back that way later, I was interrogating the bushes a bit more closely for birds, and realised that it was a Tawny Frogmouth.
He/She did not seem particularly pleased at being woken up, and the sun was in a kind of bad spot for both of us. So I took a couple of photos and bailed.
It is truly marvellous how well they blend in. I love seeing these guys around.
Nice ones, they sure do blend in. It is not easy to spot them, well done.

thats the look when i have done something B A D.
Wow. The look of pure and utter hatred in that frogmouth's eye. You must have disturbed one very deep nap. They're such emotive birds...
Yeah, I got the vibe. The sun was shining in the poor thing's eye as well. Which is why I didn't stick around for very long.
I apologised as I left.
"Sorry for disturbing you, you're just so beautiful!"
Which is about as disingenuous sounding an apology as they come, I suppose.
Great find , thanks for sharing
Dont take life too seriously, it never ends well
I know that look George, I call it the "I didn't do it" look. My husband looks at me like that, even before he finds out what I was going to say
