Tasman Parakeet

Taken on Norfolk Island last week. Rescued from extinction, the green parrot (as it is locally known) still numbers only in the low hundreds. A real highlight to get this shot.

Great shot Imogen. Was this bird part of a breeding program, or did you find it in the wild?

It was in the wild. Just very, very lucky to see it.

Nice, imogen. It's always a privelege, I find, when I see a rare species.

What a buzz to see and even better to get a photo of a bird that came so close to the edge ,from memory they were down to 4 hens and 20-30 males of breding age and last I heard they were back up to around 200 birds, shows what can be done if we really try!

Great photo thanks for sharing.

Let's hope the Orange-bellied Parrot can see a similar recovery.

How marvellous!  That would have been a wonderful experience to remember no doubt.  Thanks for sharing that beautiful shot and info Imogen!
