Barking Owl

Made my day when I spotted this fellow above me --- early afternoon but he still checked me out before dozing off again.

Wow Sue, how lucky were you!!  Such an incredibly handsome fellow, and so nice of him to show you those big beautiful eyes.  Whereabouts did you spy him?  Just in general I mean, not exactly where smiley.

Wow sue what amazing shots, and I can't believe how close you are

Would this by any chance be the Jamieson reserve barking owl as i went down there last weekend and heard a barking owl but unfortunately could not locate it

Thanks for the comments annie and Babybirdwatcher: that is the area (in Sydney). The location was different to the usual spot and he was not calling as it was early afternoon. I was very lucky and the light was good for my 400mm Nikon. You could appreciate his size better in the causarinas.

These are beautiful Sue .... I don't know why I seem to be the only birdwatcher that never has encounters with owls ... night or day!!! I love the snoozy shot after he flashes the big yellows at you !!

Cheers

I have not seen many owls but this fellow is very obliging. Thanks Akos, sometimes it comes together well and that training helps.
